Bible Prophecy, False Prophet, World Dictator, Daniel, Revelation, Revived Roman Empire, Historicism, Preterism

There are many interpretations of Biblical Prophecy out there right now. I'll give highlights of some of them. It's a mess, but maby we can reach a few conclusions.
1. Historicist View, believes most of Bible Prophecy has already been fulfilled over the course of world history. SOURCES: www.Historicism.net, www.Historicism.com
Concerning Daniel 7:8- Ten kingdoms arose after 476 A.D. in the western half of the Roman Empire. Justinian,
head of the eastern Roman Empire subdued three kings in the western empire. Justinian established the temporal power of the Papacy which dominated Europe until Napoleon. "The little horn that arose among the ten, which was diversified from them, pulling up three, is none other than Justinian...as head of the civil government, and the Pope, as the head of the church, united their interest and church and state became one..."I have found different views as to what the three subdued kingdoms were: (Vandals, Ostrogoths, Alemanians), (Heruli, Ostrogoths, Lombards), (Vandals, Ostrogoths, Franks). The time the Papacy controlled Europe was very close to 1260 years, 538 A.D. to 1798 A.D. The Papacy was the Antichrist. Dr. Grattan Guinness wrote: "It has been calculated that the Popes of Rome have directly or indirectly slain on account of their faith 50,000,000 martyrs; men and women who refused to be party to the Romish idolatries, who held to the Bible as the Word of God..."
666 means Lateinos or "The Latin Man".  Pope Vitallian issued a decree that Latin was the only language to be used in worship. The Popes call themselves the Vicar of Christ, claiming to be God the Son on Earth.
In Revelation 13:3 we see the end of the pagan Roman Empire, and its almost miraculous re-appearance as the Papal Empire.
The Historicist view was held by Protestant Reformers. This view was popular until the 1900's. Martin Luther, John Calvin, and Sir Isaac Newton were Historicist's.

b. Grattan Guinness in his book "Light For The Last Days", written in 1888, about already fulfilled Bible Prophecy and about what future dates to watch out for. Two different prophecies were used, and both  remarkably calculated out to the same date, 1917 A.D. The first started in 604 B.C. when King Nebuchadnezzar captured Jerusalem, and adding 2,520 solar years ending in 1917 A.D. This was based on Leviticus 26:24 about Israel being punished seven times for their sins, with one "time" equal to 360 years and Luke 21:24, "Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles unril the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled". Seven times 360 is 2,520.                 And the second one adding 1,335 lunar years starting in 622 A.D. This was year 0 (zero) on the Moslem calendar, coinciding with the rise of Moslem power. And also based on Daniel 12:12, "Blessed is the one who waits for and reaches the end of 1,335 days."  622 A.D. plus 1,335 lunar years also equals 1917 A.D. which was when the British army freed Jerusalem from Turkish rule.
2. Grant Jeffrey, from his television show 10/2006 on TBN network:
Concerning the False Prophet of Revelation 13- "An economic and military genuis, directs all power to be concentrated to the Antichrist. The Antichrist is killed by a knife wound to the head or neck, the entire world
knows he's dead (middle of 7 year tribulation period), then he rises from the dead. Now no longer a man, he is possessed by satan and claims to be God. Revelation 13:11- The Antichrist will be born in Israel and is Jewish.
"comes out of the earth" means Israel. To be the anti-messiah he must be Jewish. No Jew would accept a non-Jew as messiah. He stops the daily sacrifice. "Rejects God of his father's" must mean Jehovah (not pagan gods). The False Prophet is also Jewish, born in Israel, brings fire down from heaven like Elijah did, pretends to be Elijah, makes a robotic statue of the Antichrist. Millions will be deceived. Revelation 13:16- The False Prophet introduces the mark of the beast, computer chips under the skin, you must have 666 added to your individual number...Daniel 9:27 describes a seven year peace treaty that the Antichrist makes with Israel..."

B. From the 1991 book, Major Bible Prophecies by John Walvoord:
p.86 "...Following A.D. 70 and the destruction of Jerusalem, Israel was driven out of the land, their cities destroyed, their orchards ruined, their wells filled with stones. Every effort was made to make the land unlivable, resulting in probably fewer then fifteen thousand Jews remaining in the land. The rest were scattered all over the world, a process that continued to the twentieth century. Even this dispersion, however, anticipated Israel's future regathering, for Jesus sain, "Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled" (Luke 21:24).
p.76-...Genesis 15:18, "On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram and said, "To your descendants I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river the Euphrates.'"
p.87-...There is no evidence in this passage that the entire area from Egypt to the Euphrates River was possessed by Israel at this time. The facts indeed are quite to the contrary. The most extensive possessions of Israel occurred in the reign of Soloman, but even they did not incorporate the entire area into the land of Israel...all these references in the Old Testament fall short of one important reqirement--that the land was to be given to Israel forever, and they were not to be dispersed from it again (Amos 9:13-15)...Ezekial 37:24-"My servant David will be king over them...They and their children and their children's children will live there forever, and David my servant will be their prince forever"...While Jesus Christ as King of Kings and Lord of Lords will be King over the entire world as well as ruling over the house of Israel, David apparently will share the throne as far as the kingdom of Israel is concerned...

p.162-...As predicted in Daniel 2 and 7, however, the final outcome of the Roman Empire has never been fulfilled...Accordingly, in Daniel 2, though the two legs of iron clearly represent the eastern and western territories of the Roman Empire, nothing has occurred in history to correspond to the statue's feet of clay and iron....In history, instead of being suddenly destroyed, the Roman Empire gradually ebbed away over many centuries...Many have attempted to find the ten-horned stage of Daniel 7:7 fulfilled in ten kings of the Roman Empire, but there is nothing in history that corresponds to this. Never have ten Roman kings reigned simultaneously as this prophecy is interpreted in Daniel 7:24. Likewise, the ruler of Daniel 7:8 who conquers three, then apparently all ten kingdoms, and later becomes a world ruler (Dan. 7:23), has no correspondence to anything that has occurred in history. (B.D.- Find a copy of the Barnes Notes commentary on Daniel, read Volume 2 p.82-99, about the 4th beast the papacy and the ten kings. An Historicist explanation.)
p.255-...Scripture predicts a final great earthquake just before the Second Coming (Rev. 16:18-20), an earthquake so great that it will devastate "the cities of the nations"...
Jeffrey and Walvoord are Premillennial Dispensationalists.
C. Perry Stone Jr. gives a new twist to the above view in his 2003 book, "Unleashing The Beast"  HOW A FANATICAL ISLAMIC DICTATOR WILL FORM A TEN-NATION COALITION AND TERRORIZE THE WORLD FOR FORTY-TWO MONTHS
p.42 "...(see Daniel 7:20, 24). At the end of days, 10 kings will form this kingdom of the Beast. Five must be from the western branch (Rome) and five from the eastern branch (Turkey).
p.48...the Antichrist will rise from ancient Assyria--an area consisting of Lebanon, Syria and Iraq...He appears in the name of peace and signs a 7-year agreement with many nations, including Israel (Daniel 9:27). This agreement is called a covenant. In the middle of seven years , he will break the agreement, invade Northern Africa and seize Egypt, Libya, and Ethiopia (Daniel 11:43). He will engage weapons of mass destruction to destroy many and, through fear, 10 nations will yield to his total authority: Revelation 17:12,13. ..the Antichrist will take over control of northern Africa and invade Israel, perhaps with a united Muslim army
.
p.64 Years ago, I was amazed to discover that Muslims believe they will one day control the entire world and that everyone will eventually become a Muslim. ..The Shiites have a teaching called the Doctrine of the Twelve. It states that after Mohammed, there were 11 caliphs. The 12th was the son of the 11th, and he disappeared when he was a young boy. Since the graves of the other 11 are known and the grave of the 12th has never been discovered, the tradition states that the 12th caliph has been supernaturally protected by Allah for the past 1,200 years. ..Since the disappearance of the 12th Imam in 878 A.D., Muslims have been expecting a final prophet to appear. He is called the Mahdi and will lead a last-days Islamic revival...The Shiites, which is the more radical group, are placing high expectations upon the soon arrival of this prince who will conquer Israel and the West.
p.121 the Antichrist will sit in the Temple as though he is God (2 Thessalonians 2:4). Therefore, someone else has built the Temple on the Temple Mount and the Antichrist invades the city to "liberate" the sacred Islamic shrine from the hands of the "infidels"...Two men, identified as the two witnesses in Revelation 11, will assist in building a temporary Jewish place of worship on the Temple Mount. One of these two witnesses will be Elijah the prophet, according to Malachi 4:5..Jesus said Elijah will "restore all things" (Matthew 17:11). John, in Revelation 7, speaks of 144,000 Jews who will be sealed with the seal of God during the first part of the 7-year Tribulation. Early Jewish rabbis believed that, when Elijah appears, he will be given the knowledge of which tribe every Jew is originally from...Yet, these two witnesses will be given such authority that they will bring death to their enemies through their words! Any attempts to hinder their ministry will be met with swift judgement and instant destruction (Revelation 11:5). This will cause fear in all people, including Muslims. Super-
natural power will form a hedge of protection for the witnesses during the first 42 months of the 7-year Tribulation. (Revelation 11:2 ..and they will tread under foot the holy city for forty-two months.)
p.147 At the present time, most Islamic nations are uninterested in peace with Israel. The majority is supporting the internal uprising between the Palestinians and Israelis and others are calling for an all out holy war (jihad) against Jews living in "Palestine". ..Isaiah 17:1, 9..The city of Damascus is the oldest continuing city on earth and has never been destroyed in the manner the prophet Isaiah wrote...If Syria sent a chemical or biological weapon on the Israeli population, Israel would not restrain from utterly destroying the enemy...It may be that the Islamic nations will realize that Israel, as a nation, is not going anywhere. They may understand that future wars could mean total annihilation for all humans in the Middle East. Islamic nations will only agree to peace with Israel after a war resulting in many Islamic deaths, has ended.
p.255 ..if the war on terror does evolve into something more--World War III perhaps--and the patterns of history hold true, then the United States, currently the world's sole superpower, may devolve into a second tier nation, leaving a power vacuum across the world and setting the stage for the last end time prophecies to come to pass.

3. From the book, "The Beast of Revelation", by Kenneth L. Gentry Jr. p.239-"If the views I have presented in this book are correct, then Revelation was written about a terrible Beast that would afflict the people of God before and in anticipation of the fall of Jerusalem and the destruction of the temple in A.D.70. That being the case, then, we do not have the Beast and a "Great Tribulation" to look forward to in our future. The Beast--ancient Rome (generically) and Nero Ceasar (specifically)--has already lived and the Tribulation has already occurred, as Scripture said it would, in the first century "birth pangs" of Christianity (Matt 24:8,21; cp. v.34). Revelation, then, does not leave us with biblical warrant to view earth's future as a "blocked future" of dispair. The woes of Revelation have already occurred! If these views are correct--and I am convinced beyond any doubt that they are--then Revelation was given as God's divinely inspired and inerrant pre-interpretive word on the destruction of the temple order and the divorce of Israel as God's covenant wife...

"Judgment of the whore", whore is Jerusalem. It's not the destruction of the "beast". The beast of seven heads and ten horns is the Roman Empire...The Abyss is the land of Judae of the first century. Revelation 17:8-
"beast that was, is not, about to come" is Vespasian. Revelation 17:14- The beast and ten k

4.  R.C. Sproul, from his book, "The Last Days According to Jesus"
p.158- "....R.C. Sproul, Sr. is not a full preterist, but he does see a lot of merit in the partial preterist approach similar to Ken Gentry.]...To be completely candid, I must confess that I am still unsettled on some crucial matters. I am convinced that the substance of the Olivet Discourse was fulfilled in A.D.70 and that the bulk of Revelation was likewise fulfilled in that timeframe. I share Gentry's concerns about full preterism, particularly on such issues as the consummation of the kingdom and resurrection of the dead....While partial preterists acknowledge that in the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D.70 there was a parousia or coming of Christ, they maintain that it was not the parousia. That is, the coming of Christ in A.D.70 was a coming in judgment on the Jewish nation, indicating the end of the Jewish age and the fulfillment of a day of the Lord. Jesus really did come in judgment at this time, fulfilling his prophecy in the Olivet Discourse, But this was not the final or ultimate coming of Christ. The parousia, in its fullness, will extend far beyond the Jewish nation and will be universal in its scope and significance. It will come, not at the end of the Jewish age, but at the end of human history as we know it. It will be, not merely a day of the Lord, but the final and ultimate day of the Lord.
p.189-..What should we make of this? Many scholars view the beast in Revelation as a prophecy of a still remote future. Others see Nero as a "type" of one who has yet to be manifest. Often the commentator's decision is governed by his view of when Revelation was written. Even if Gentry has dated Revelation correctly, that still does not exclude the possibility of a future manifestation of the beast in accord with a primary and secondary schema of prophetic fulfillment. But is such a schema necessary if the events foretold in Revelation concerned the imminent judgment of the Jewish nation and the destruction of Jerusalem?
p.202-...The great weakness of full preterism--and what I regard to be its fatal flaw--is its treatment of the final resurrection..."

5. From the book "When Shall These Things Be?", by Keith Mathison
p.168- "There are also biblical prophecies that have multiple fulfillments...Daniel 11:31..this prophecy almost certainly predicts the desecration of the temple by Antiochus IV Epiphanes in December 168 B.C. He erected an idol of Zeus in the temple and offered swine on the altar. In some sense, then, Daniel 11:31 was fulfilled in the second century B.C. Yet in Matthew 24:15-16, Jesus says, "Therefore when you see the 'abomination of desolation,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place... then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains." Jesus speaks of the "abomination of desolation" in the future tense two hundred years after the time of Antiochus IV. So a prophecy that has already been fulfilled will be fulfilled again.... p.178 (Concerning Matthew chapters 10, 16, and 24) What does all of this mean? Each of the texts we have looked at seems to portray the coming of the Son of Man as something that would occur soon after the words were spoken. This has perplexed commentators for centuries....p.179 Most commentators believe that "this generation" refers in some sense to the generation that heard Jesus's words....p.181 They have failed to consider another significant possibility- namely, that when Jesus used the phrase "coming of the Son of Man", He wasn't refering to His second coming....When Jesus used the words "the coming of the Son of Man", He seems to be alluding to Daniel 7:13-14, a text in which the "coming" in question is a coming to the Ancient of Days in Heaven, not a coming from heaven to earth...p.187-According to Acts 1:9-11, Jesus' resurrection body ascended into the sky before the eyes of the apostles. At some point in his ascent (we aren't told what point), he disappeared from their sight in a cloud. If the manner of Jesus' ascension was visible and bodily (the fundamental emphasis of the passage), and if Jesus will come again in the same manner that he ascended, then Jesus' return will be visible  and bodily. This has not happened yet, so if Scripture can be trusted, the visible return of Christ is something that literally remains to be seen....p.198 (concerning Romans chapters 9-11) Having explained that Israel as a whole has rejected her Messiah, he declares, "I say then, has God cast away His people? Certainly not!" ...p.200 A remnant of the people of Israel has been turning to Jesus from the first century to this day, but Israel as a people has remained hardened. Paul seems to indicate that this hardening is not a permanent condition...a new testament prophecy that has yet to be fulfilled....p.211 (concerning the Second Coming of Christ) The New Testament teaches that the return of Jesus will be a visible and personal return...the return, general resurrection, and Last Judgment are all in the future.
"
6.. Concerning Daniel 9:27- "And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate."

Who is the "he"? All of the Christian prophecy teachers I've seen on television here in the U.S. (like Jack Van Impe and John Ankerberg) teach that this is describing a still future, future for us now, antichrist who will make a 7 year peace treaty with Israel.
But there is another interpretation, namely, "he" was Jesus Christ. It should be "He shall
confirm", not "make". Christ confirmed an already existing covenant, then after three and a half years of public ministry, Christ was crucified. Jesus Christ was the perfect sacrifice and therefore brought an end to the need for sacrifice and offerings. Then after His resurrection, Christ sent the Roman army to destroy Jerusalem in 70A.D.
7. Matthew 24:15-"Therefore when you see the Abomination of Desolation which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place."
parallel verse in Luke 21:20-"But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then recognize that her desolation is at hand."
2 Thessalonians 2:1-12-"...with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our gathering together to Him...Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostacy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God....And then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming;..."

Who is the "man of lawlessness"? Was it Nero or the Papacy? Is he still to come in the future? Is it a double or triple prophecy? There is a huge debate about this right now.........To be continued.
Well, let's see now, is anyone even close to the truth? At this time, June 2007, I believe the following to be correct:
    1. Daniel 9:27 was referring to Jesus Christ, not a future antichrist, it's already been fulfilled.
    2. The most popular teaching about future Bible prophecy, shown above from Walvoord and Jeffrey, is
wrong. I don't think the Rapture will come 7 years before the return of Christ. I can't envision the people
in our modern world bowing down to a world dictator/antichrist, especially since this has been the most
popular teaching for the last 100 years. Most people have heard of "The Antichrist"  and for them to
quickly march alongside Antichrist, knowing that this guy seems to be fulfilling that Bible prophecy and
they'll go to Hell for it........I'm sorry but even if all Christians were raptured out beforehand, the know-
ledge of antichrist would still remain. They also stress Matthew 24:34-"...This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled."  First they added 40 years (40 years is what most Bible scholars believe a generation is equal too, Jack Van Impe also stated a generation is 40 years) to 1948, then after Christ didn't return by 1988 they changed it to 1967 plus 40 years or 2007 (when Israel gained control of all Jerusalem, June 1967). We'll its past 40 years again.
    3. Modern Israel is important. I'm still impressed with Israel's ability to win wars in 1948, 1967, and 1973.
And the 1917 date calculated by Grattan Guinness, and the 1948 date calculated by Grant Jeffrey and Guy
       Cramer.
    4. The destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. did fulfill many prophecies, but some of the most important
events have not happened yet. Including The Second Coming of Jesus Christ and the Final Resurrection.
    5. The fall of the Roman Empire and the rise of the Holy Roman Church was predicted in Daniel and
Revelation. I'm also impressed with Grattan Guinness's 1260 year span between 538 A.D. and 1798
        A.D.
    6. The Muslims will probably attack Israel in the near future. The U.S. will not be defeated militarily or
become a second rate nation any time soon. The U.S. currently has over 5,000 nuclear warheads. Iran
        still has zero.
    7. I'm most impressed with the Historical method. Even though it has been misused to predict future events which didn't happen. And there is some disagreement as to the exact dates and if certain prophecies have been fulfilled. The false predictions hurt it. And it's not as exciting as Premillennial Dispensationalism, which teaches Christ can return at any moment and Rapture Christians away, like in the popular "Left Behind" series. But the fact that most Historicists agree on the major points and that it does track well with actual historical events still makes it the right way to go, in my opinion. Look at the people who believed in this method: Isaac Newton, John Calvin, Martin Luther and many others who I'm sure would make myself and most others look like uneducated illiterates. And we are supposed to forget about this method?
I've been looking for a good book on Historicism and I think I've found one. It's by Fred P. Miller, titled
Revelation, A Panorama of the Gospel Age, written in 1991. Using the Historical method, Fred P. Miller accurately predicted in 1966 that Ethiopia would become a communist state and that Iran would oppose western democracies, at that time Iran was a closely allied with the U.S. He also predicted a revival of the Church of Christ in Russia, beginning in the Ukraine.
Here is a brief account of Fred P. Miller's Historical interpretation:
Daniel 7:8 The "litttle horn" is the Papacy which did take over three kingdoms. The Exarchate of Ravenna in 755, the kingdom of the Lombards in 774, and the Roman senate itself (taken over in degrees). Shortly after 800 the three principalities were included in the Papal states which were held by the Papacy until 1870.
The three groups of symbols in Revelation (Seals, Trumpets, and Bowls) are to be interpreted sequentially. Some of the words in Revelation are symbol words. For example mountains are governments or principalities, islands are nations, earthquakes are revolutions, stars are spiritual powers, the sun and moon are important earthly authorities, and the dragon is Satan in human government.
Revelation chapters six and seven and the seven
Seals. The first seal, the white horse, sould be something good. The second seal, the red horse, could be blood, war, fire, not good. The third seal, the black horse, darkness and despair, hard times. The forth seal, the pale horse, sickliness, depopulation. The fifth seal, persecution, souls under the alter, refers to the dead in Christ awaiting judgment day. The sixth seal, a great earthquake, shakeup of government, religion, social order, economy. Fulfillment: The period following Domitian introduces a century of peace called the Pax Romana or translated the Peace of Rome, from 98 to 180 A.D. The period from 180 to 280 was a period of disorder. Eighty emperors ruled in a space of 90 years and most of them met death by violence. There was civil war, pillaging, burning of the countryside. The next period, resulting from the wars of the previous period, brought the empire the worst of famines and shortages. The next period, up to 300 A.D.,  there was an outbreak of the black plague, much death and disease, wild animals increased in civilized ares due to the depopulation. The fifth seal, "a little season" from 300 to 313 was characterized by severe persecution against Christians. Authorized by the emperors of Rome, thousands died, many in public arenas. Then came Constantine, his conquests and subsequent emperorship turned the imperial system of Rome upside down. Constantine issued the Edict of Milan in 325, which made Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire. Then followed what history books call "The Triumph of Christianity" and "The Rise of the Christian Church" up to the year 460.
      Then the
Trumpets begin to sound and successive blows hit the earth, sea, rivers, and then the Dark Ages. The first four trumpets refer to the barbarian invasions of the Goths, Vandals, Huns, and Ostrogoths. The forth trumpet, which darkens one third of the sun, moon and stars, could not be a better picture of the beginning of the dark ages. The fifth trumpet announced the rise of Islam. Rev 9:5 "tormented five months", using the a day equals a year method, means 150 years. We have seen that one third of the old Roman Empire was lost to barbarian invasions. The two thirds that were left were to fall in two separate periods of time. One third of the Empire did actually fall to the Arab conquests following the death of Mohammed in 632. It would be 150 years later that they would stop their conquest and hold the territories they had gained, with only little loss until the rise of the Turks. The sixth trumpet refers to the rise and duration of the Turkish Empire. Rev 9:15 "for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year" equals 397 years. In 1056, Togrul led his troups across the Euphrates for the first time into the lands of the remaining emperors of the last vestige of the Roman Empire, the last one third. 1453 was the year of the fall of Constantinople, or the fall of the Roman Empire in the east. 397 plus 1056 equals 1453, 397 years! Concering the two hundered million horseman:
Only the Turkish Empire could fulfill this figure in history. If the 300 years of Crusaders could speak, they would  say this accurately pictures what they faced.
Rev 11:3 "And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth". The two witnesses are the Old and New Testaments. 1260 days equals 1260 years and ended in 1793, the French Revolution, the seventh trumpet. Rev 11:9 three and a half days equals three and a half years. In November 1793, atheism reached its zenith, with its mockery of the rites of the church. The commissioners of the National Convention dressed up an ass in sacerdotal habit, and loaded it with the symbols of Christianity and tied the Old and New Testaments to its tail. Books of devotion were piled up and burned to ashes and a prostitute was enthroned as the Goddess of Reason. In 1797 Napoleon wrote, "Our religious revolution is a failure" and "Society cannot exist....without religion". Three and one half years after the official laws were passed against all religion, early in 1797, the revolutionary laws were abolished.
      The
Bowls of the wrath of God refer to the decline and fall of the Papacy. The first four bowls are seen as comprising the period from 1793 to 1815. The fifth bowl was in 1848 to 1870, when the Papal states were taken away. The sixth bowl was the diminishing of Turkish power.

Armageddon is a symbol of the decisive defeat of Godless secularism led by Russia described in Ezekial 38, 39 and Rev 20:8 and the overthrow of the monolithic power of a resurgent Islam (The False Prophet). We are living in this epoch called Armageddon which began in 1917. The seventh bowl has already been poured out but is mostly in the future. It is poured out in the air. That has to refer to the realm of ideas or  thinking. The existential ethic and accompanying personal freedom and individual choice. Humanism, communism and other forms of marxism, socialist utopianism, evolution, situationalism, behaviorism, eastern transcendental self-realization, etc. The Papal system will end. Islam will end. National governments will end. Ezekiel 38:22 "hailstones, fire, and brimstone" are all physical calamities not figurative. Could be referring  to a rain of atomic missiles.
Rev. 17:15-16, this is a perfect picture of the close relation with the false religion of the Papacy and the ten kingdoms left to Rome in Europe, yet the hatred that existed at the same time. Rev. 17:17 "That great City" is Vatican City.
Fred P. Miller also shows a method to calculate the 2300 evenings and mornings of Daniel 8:14 by using the correct calendars and figuring that the 2300 evenings and mornings equal 1150 days. It calculates exactly to the 2300. It was fulfilled in the days of Antiochus Epiphanes around 165 B.C. Miller thinks the 1290 and 1335 days of Daniel 12:11 were also fulfilled during this time period with the death of Antiochus Epiphanes.

Also you should read what Isaac Newton wrote. Newton thought the Dragon was the whole Roman Empire before it was divided. Then after the division the Dragon was the Greek Empire and the Beast the Latin Empire.
He thought the Papacy is the 11th horn of Daniel's 4th beast to reign for 1260 solar years, ending around 2060 A.D. Newton thought that the Second Beast of Revelaion 13:11 was the Church of the Greek Empire. He believed the Jews would return (already has happened) and that they would convert to Christianity (hasn't happened yet). He linked the return of the Jews to the 7th trumpet of Revelation signaling the Return of Christ,
the Resurrection, Judgment, Armageddon and beginning of the Millennium.

Historicist Robert Fleming wrote a book in 1701 entitled, "Apocalyptical Key, or the pouring out of the Vials".
In it he made some predictions based on Revelation using the Historical method. He predicted that judgment on the Papacy would probably begin around 1848. He used 606 A.D. as the starting point when the Pope received the title of Supreme Bishop. Fleming then simply added 1260 years using 360 day years to equal 1848.This is remarkable! The Pope was imprisoned in 1848 by Garibaldi. The Papal states had all been taken away by 1870. But Fleming also stated the Papacy would survive with diminished power.
Robert Fleming predicted the decline of the Turkish Empire would occupy the last half of the 1800's. This is
also accurate.
